The United Way of Lake & Sumter Counties lost everything on June 22, 2008 after a fire.  We are in the process of rebuilding in our community. 

Many people from our community have stepped up to help us including Take Stock in Children, The Education Foundation, and the Lake County School Board who have helped house us these past few days. 

As we continue to work towards finding permanent housing, changing addresses, etc. we will be turning more to the community for assistance.  This community developed our United Way almost 50 years ago and has worked to make us as strong as we are in our community.  We have faith our community will come together once again for us as we dust the soot off our shoes and move on.   Our primary goal right now is to ensure there is no gap in services to those in our community that need us the most and those in our community that look to us to help with the most basic of needs.
